STEM stars! Robotics camp graduates build a brighter future
La Vida helped power the dreams of 32 young students in Honduras when they graduated from educate.’s first robotics camp in June.
The five-day camp – part of a STEM programme funded by La Vida – gave hands-on experience of scientific principles involving physics, hydraulics, electricity, programming, and design.
The camp ended with a science fair, open to the community, where young people presented their learning and shared how these ideas could be applied to solve problems in their communities, for example improving access to electricity and water.
During the camp, participants made three robot prototypes: a hydraulic arm, an electric car, and a robotic arm. The camp was developed in partnership with STEM-IN-A-BOX, an American/Salvadoran NGO.
More students continue to progress through the STEM programme and benefit from new skills and experience.
