with a gender, intercultural and anti-racist perspective”

Project Co-ordinator: Ivonne Cantu
Location: Oxaca, Mexico

Summary

Led by a multidisciplinary team of indigenous and Afro-Mexican professional women from Oaxaca, Mano Vuelta’s mission is to promote an equitable life and rights for children, youth and women through research, training, community and educational initiatives with a gender, intercultural and anti-racist perspective

 Description of Project

La Vida supports Mano Vuelta by sponsoring an annual one-week feminist summer camp for girls and young women focused on gender equity
Issues of gender equity including domestic violence and sexual abuse represent a significant problem in the community.
Through a holistic approach incorporating drama and arts, Mano Vuelta raises awareness, educates and promotes confidence in young indigenous women creating a positive impact in their lives and in their communities.
More broadly, Mano Vuelta provides tailored training on matters of gender equity and human rights to organisations including government bodies and the national health system as well as conducting research to support the development of policies aligned to its mission
