Description of Project

We funded a new community library at a primary school in las Delicias, Santa Barbara. After consultation with the community they renovated an existing room in the school, bespoke bookshelves, reed mats and cushions were made by local artisans and we provided 300 books.

In 2022 we also funded a new computer lab for a youth centre in a building that educate renovated for a municipal library in Trinidad. They started running computer classes in January 2023, the primary school progamme on Fridays and the secondary school programme on Saturdays, led by one of their university scholars. Many of the students come from Las Delicias school and have never sat in front of a computer before.

In addition, we started funding 10 scholarships in their High School Scholarship Programme to support high-potential, low-income students in continuing their secondary school education.
